My husband and I decided to relocate from Philadelphia to the Miami area, and although we had made several long distance moves in the past, we had no idea we were in for a wild ride! We decided to rent and take our time to get to know the Miami area, but it wasn’t easy to find a realtor who worked with rentals. And there were those who randomly disappeared. I worked with one realtor for nearly 6 weeks who constantly mentioned how fast the market was moving in Florida, yet when I wanted to see something virtually, she was nowhere to be found!

Afterwards, I talked to 6 other realtors, none of whom listened to my needs. And then I found Nuno via a rental listing in a Facebook group. And that’s when I knew I had found someone different! After a quick chat, we began our search, which continued once we reached Miami. I quickly realized that what I wanted to pay for rent wouldn’t come close to suiting my needs, plus the process seemed lengthy and complex. Nuno quietly commented that in many ways it was easier to purchase than it was to rent – and I was paying attention! Shortly after that we made the decision to purchase a home instead, and Nuno was on board!

We got a slow start because I was still trying to get to know the area, but I could tell that Nuno always had our best interests in mind when it came to what we wanted. The main thing for me was finding that perfect intersection of location, price, safety and suburbia – and I feel like he bent over backwards to find homes to fit that profile. Finding the place I wanted to view was one thing. Finding the place I wanted to put an offer on was another. And actually winning at the offer game was another thing for sure! We weren’t prepared to compete with all-cash offers, and this market was like nothing we had ever seen!

It felt like we would never find a home and I literally wanted to quit looking, but Nuno wouldn’t let me. I literally cried from the frustration. He patiently listened. He was right – we had to keep moving forward. Houses often had one open house event and two days later they were under contract. Nuno was very agile, recognizing that each offer was unique, but I think he also knew when we finally found what we wanted because he moved some mountains to make it happen.

This market was unreal and Nuno had worked diligently to get us a signed contract, keeping the faith when I lost mine! I can honestly say that he never took his foot off the gas from the moment he started sending me listings to the moment we closed on the house. I have never seen a closing so fast, and frankly, I didn’t think it was possible – and definitely not in the middle of the holidays!

Whether someone is renting or buying, this process requires a lot of trust. It requires that the agent understand the client’s needs and is responsive when contacted. Nuno was the only realtor (I talked to) who met these criteria. And it’s a beautiful thing when the agent goes the extra mile after the move to make settling in just a little easier!

A move into the Florida market may have its challenges, but you won’t find an agent anywhere who will be as tenacious as Nuno Goncalves!
