Selection of yarns is very nice. However, the store owner is unwelcoming and has a very condescending manner of speaking with patrons. I was left feeling like I was intruding because I came in during a class or group knitting session -- I've never felt this way in other yarn shops. She's very opinionated and came across as if her opinions are superior to mine. This occurred on 2 separate occasions -- enough to let me know the first experience was not a fluke. I'm glad there are many other options in the Pittsburgh region.

Dyed in the Wool is my home away from home. My solace, my safety net, my peace. I have been a shopper and student there for over 6 years and have always felt like I belong. Carol, the owner is a class act. Very professional and very patient. We are always learning new things. My wise mother used to tell me we are never too old to learn. I am now 66 years old and guess what mom, you were right. I have made many friends and everyone is most welcoming. Even when I was the new kid on the block I never felt that I was. Everyone roots you on and always willing to help if you have a problem. Even the most experienced of knitters face challenges and make mistakes. It is part of being human. It is a wonderful SAFE environment and I’m proud to be a part of it. Thank you Carol for being there for all of us and teaching us your incredible gift. I know I still have a lot to learn but guess what I feel I can officially say that I am a now a “knitter”

Dyed in the Wool has been my knitting home for over 10 years! Carol is a wonderful knitting educator! I have taken so many classes here and belong to a regular weekly knitting class. Carol makes each of her students fell welcome and it is easy to ask her questions. Her knitting products and all of her yarns are very high quality. I highly recommend this knitting store!

Carol, the owner, is wonderful. Extremely helpful and knowledgeable about all the wares in her store. She has close connections with suppliers and designers and has her own beautiful designs. Good place to go to get yarn for projects you plan, as well as finding new irresistible projects!

I started going to classes at DITW 3 years ago this month. Carol has been a patient mentor. She has encouraged my interest in knitting by helping to fix mistakes during open knitting classes and offering project-based classes on new techniques with different yarns. I love my time in the shop. Simply walking into the shop creates a sense of calm - the community of knitters has helped me cope with my daughter leaving for college and my new grandson living in another state. I love DITW!

Extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff, wide variety of high quality yarns at reasonable prices. They also carry roving and spinning supplies, as well as weaving looms and a wide assortment of knitting needles and crochet hooks. Classes are offered frequently, as well as one-on-one help. Great for beginner knitters, spinners, and weavers as well as experienced crafters.
