I have never seen such poor communication at an apartment complex or business like this. I moved in on 4/1/23 to a premium 4 bedroom. The room key did not unlock my room, so I then had to wait 2 hours for maintenance to come and rekey the bedroom. When they opened the door the room had not been cleaned, there was water in the bathtub, still had the previous tenant's items, has paint and yellow stains on the carpet, and all of the windows were left open without screens. The apartment is on the ground floor. My roommates informed me that they could hear someone breaking into the room, I assume from the windows that were left wide open. Zach was very apologetic as his team did not inform him that I was moving in that day and he did get people out to clean same day and I thank him for that. I was going to let this all go, until today 4/18/23 when my car was towed. I got the new parking pass and mailbox key on Saturday 4/15/23. I went out at noon and quickly saw my car was gone. I went to the office and they said my car was towed because there was no communication of the new parking passes to the towing company. I have been told my car will be delivered in 2 hours free of charge, however this is more of my time that is being wasted due to the staffs' lack of communication.

I want to preface by saying if I could rate it 0, I would.

I am writing to express my deep concerns about my recent experience at University Village. While I was initially drawn to the location and potential of the place, I encountered several distressing issues that have put me in a difficult position, particularly with the upcoming start of classes.

Upon "moving in" , I was dismayed to find a concerning number of bugs and roaches in the living space immediately upon entering. This not only created an uncomfortable and unclean environment but also raised concerns about health and hygiene. The presence of broken and hanging cabinets, along with walls smudged with dirt and grime, was disappointing and unexpected.

The air conditioning system appeared to be struggling, making the indoor climate less than optimal. This, combined with stains in the bathroom and unclean floors, made it clear that the level of maintenance was not up to ANY standard.

My concern is heightened by the fact that my classes are set to start in just four days. This timing leaves me with limited options, and the possibility of having to break my lease in such a short timeframe is distressing. It has put me and my roommates in the difficult position of having to find alternative housing on short notice, which is both stressful and disruptive.

I want to clarify that this is not an isolated incident, there were at least 5 groups of people standing in the leasing office all visibly and audibly upset at the conditions of their rooms. It may also be important to note, if you move in without knowing your roommates, there may be a renter already in the unit.. in which case - "we are not responsible for maintaining the common area" - a leasing agent. The bugs in the common area unfortunately do not respect the "boundaries" of a room.

I am in the process of terminating my lease immediately. DO NOT COME HERE.

I’m having a good experience so far. The apartment I got in was pretty nice compared to the bad reviews I been seeing but I do think it could be better, especially on the level of the cleaning. Mr. Mathew was very informative and I appreciated talking on the phone with Ms. Passion. Though I had a lot of stress and misunderstandings with the furnishing of my unit which ended up not being furnished, I just think communication could be better. I hope it continues this well

If I could leave a 0 star review I would. Saturday night (6/20/24), someone got into my car and this is supposed to be a gated community but the security gate hasn't worked in months. We are also supposed to have security driving around at night and I haven't seen them in about a week. I went to the leasing office today (6/22/24) to express that I don't feel safe here anymore and asked what the policy was to break my lease on the fact that I don't feel safe and all he could say was "sorry" and "the gate will be fixed in a week". He also said the only way I can break my lease is if I can find someone to sublease even though I DON'T FEEL SAFE!!! It shows that they really don't care about their residents and just want the sales.

I'm here to rewrite a review, since I try to be as honest as possible... When I moved in the apartment was a total mess, which was the fault of nobody other than the previous tenants and the old cleaning service. UV Charlotte has since changed a lot of the services that come here to keep the property nice.

After 6 months of living at UV Charlotte, I gotta say they've been working hard to turn this place around. The front office is very kind, and I couldn't be happier with my room mate matching. The rent is exactly what you're paying for, so don't expect a ton of "extras."

I'm leaving up the original pictures of what the place looked like at move in, but including new images of what this place CAN look like!

I'd say this is a great first apartment, especially if you're moving from out of the area. I'm comfortable having other women to live with, and overall happy living here.

I got an apartment last year, where 2 other girls moved in with me. Our apartment was suppose to be 4 girls but one of them was not a college student(the random roommate). When I signed the lease the apartment promised that all girls would be in college but one was not, she had a cat that I was severely allergic too. Plus the day we moved in the apartment was DISGUSTING. We were promise to move into a clean apartment which was NOT CLEAN. YUCK!!!!
The office took 3 months to kick her out of our promise apartment, where they did clean eventually but three months later.
There are also people drinking outside the apartment which did not make me feel safe, plus that gate in the front does not work!
One of my roommates had her car broken into, and had to call the police.
I left the apartment and my room was not damaged and they made me pay 125 dollar fee, because it was damage, this apartment is horrible I would honestly give it a 0/5 review.

DO NOT LIVE HERE. The staff is incredibly unhelpful and unprofessional, rarely answering the phone and unresponsive to maintenance requests. We arrived to find the place dirty and needing serious cleaning. We left it very clean and were charged a cleaning fee, which cannot be paid online; we must send a money order. Security is a nightmare. My roommate's car was stolen from the parking lot. There is no security on site. The complex was shut down twice with a large police presence, for which there was no explanation from the office. Find somewhere else to live. This place is dangerous and not worth it.

Awful awful awful is really all I can say about this apartment complex. The only thing it has going for it is being the cheapest in the area for off campus student housing. The gym is absolutely filthy they never once replaced the wipes in there so everyone's sweat was covering the equipment. The very few machines they have in there are broken and were broken for months. There's often roaches and other bugs crawling into it. The bathrooms in the gym are absolutely filthy. I can't really rate the pool since I was scared to enter it looking at how they kept up with cleaning the rest of the complex. Continuing on animals I was chased by 3 dogs as I was heading into my apartment one night. After telling management about almost being mauled by dogs owned by someone in the apartment they never even looked into it.

The area is not safe at all cops are often called to the complex. I've had my packages stolen many times as well. The gates don't work at all so if safety is a deal breaker don't even look in this complex's direction.

All the furnishing provided by the complex are extremely cheap and deteriorate very quickly. I asked to have my chair 3 times and it was never replaced even as it was completely shredded. The washer and dryer provided by the complex are the worst I've ever used. People here often just drive to a nearby laundry mat because using the ones in the apartment will take several hours to dry your clothes and at least two cycles to make sure they're actually clean.

Speaking of cleaning. I had my apartment absolutely spotless upon moveout yet somehow they charged me $485! So be warned no matter how clean you think your apartment is they'll find the tiniest thing to charge you even when you no longer live there.

TLDR: Stay away from this complex. If you're a student it'll be cheaper in the long run to just live on campus rather than dealing with this disgusting complex!
